Why two quotes for the same leak differ so much
One roofer may be pricing a patch at the visible stain, another the actual source several feet uphill. Water travels along the deck before it drops. A quote that does not say where the water is entering is a guess, and the cheap version often reappears in the next heavy rain.
Steep or tall roofs, multiple layers of old shingles, and roofs that need harness or scaffold setup all raise labour cost regardless of the size of the repair.
When repairing stops making sense
